Administrative and Regulatory Proceedings

The attorneys in this area have extensive experience in administrative matters on the federal, state and local levels. On the federal level, the firm has represented clients who have been subjects or witnesses in investigations by the Tennessee Valley Authority, U.S. Department of Labor, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice Antitrust Division, Consumer Product Safety Commission and other departments and agencies. Some of these matters were resolved at the investigatory stage and others proceeded to litigation. Our state administrative practice covers almost every state department and agency. We have handled applications, enforcement proceedings and contested cases before most of the boards and agencies in the Department of Commerce and Insurance and the Department of State. We have an extensive insurance regulatory practice before the Departments of Commerce and Insurance, Financial Institutions and Environment and Conservation. We have also prosecuted and defended bid protests arising from procurements by the State of Tennessee. At the local level, we represent clients in procurement matters, in appeals before local beer boards, and in zoning and other land use matters. Due to the sensitive nature of some of these matters, a list of representative clients is not available.
