Ashley joined Bass, Berry & Sims PLC as an associate in 2011 in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Ashley focuses her practice on state and local tax litigation, products liability and tort litigation, and trust and estate litigation. In addition to those specific practice areas, Ashley has represented clients in a variety of complex general litigation matters.

Representative Matters include: 
  • Successfully represented SunTrust Bank in trial litigation involving a claim for breach of fiduciary duty with respect to trust administration involving high-value real estate assets; 
  • Successfully represented American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in arguing that the Tennessee Department of Revenue’s attempt to reverse its initial determination that American Honda overpaid its franchise and excise tax liability was barred by the statute of limitations; 
  • Currently representing Pfizer Inc. in litigation involving Pfizer’s entitlement to a refund of franchise and excise taxes imposed on the gain resulting from the sale of its consumer healthcare products business; 
  • Currently representing General Mills, Inc. in litigation seeking a refund of use taxes for purchases that qualify for the sales/use tax exemption for industrial machinery; 
  • Currently representing Honeywell International Inc. in defending a lawsuit involving a claim of personal injury allegedly related to ozone emissions; 
  • Currently representing an engineering and manufacturing company in asbestos litigation; and 
  • Assisted in conducting international internal investigations for public companies involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and in drafting anti-corruption policies for companies with business activities in high-risk industries and jurisdictions.

Ashley is also actively engaged in the firm’s pro bono efforts, representing indigent clients in adoptions as well as landlord-tenant actions.

Prior to joining Bass, Berry & Sims, Ashley earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School where she served as a managing editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review and served as vice president of the Vanderbilt Bar Association. While in law school, Ashley was an intern for the Honorable Joe B. Brown, United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Tennessee.

Outside of work, Ashley is a member of the Nashville Symphony Chorus and enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and playing with her two dogs, Gus and Maddie.
